Not exactly true… i didn’t hear booing necessarily, but the show was full of a lot of college jock types who weren’t too appreciative during Justin’s set, but thankfully the St. Olaf volunteers dealt with them well.
That said, overall the crowd was pretty terrible for him. By the time he ended his set, i’d guess there was about 150 or so people (that actually seemed interested/into it) left, compared to around 600 or so for A Night In The Box, who went over very well. Probably not the best idea to put up a very high energy opener before Justin, at least not for a free college show. People go to those just to drink (i know it’a dry campus, but come on…) and have a good time usually.
i talked w/ him briefly afterward and he was obviously bummed with how the crowd was, but seemed to know that was a possibility going into the show.
the band still put on a great show regardless and Justin covered Bob Dylan’s “Every Grain of Sand” and debuted a brand new song (i’ve got video of both coming).
but yeah, out of the 9 times i’ve seen Bon Iver now, that was definitely my least enjoyable show for various reasons, and I felt bad for them.
